What type of services do you offer?
We are an in-home tutoring service with multiple locations nationwide. Our tutors come to your home and work on current assignments, tests, and homework.

Will the tutor come to our home?

Yes. The tutor will come to your home as often as you need them. If it is more convenient, you can meet at a coffee shop, library or office depending on your preference.

What times and days are the tutors available?

Most of our tutors are available after 5 p.m. during the week and on the weekends. Some of our tutors are also available during the day.

Do your tutors have experience working with learning disabilities (ADD, ADHD, etc.)?

Yes. Most of our tutors have experience working with students that have ADD or ADHD. Some tutors may have more advanced training for conditions such as Asperger's or Dyslexia. A customer service representative can provide more information regarding a specific tutor's background.

What are your requirements for the tutors who work for Stepping Stone Tutors?

All of our tutors must meet the same requirements: 3 or more years of teaching or tutoring experience, a college degree, and a 50 state background check. Many of our tutors are credentialed teachers, some are working professionals, but everyone has a passion for education. More than 70% of our tutors have graduate degrees.

How often will the tutor need to come?

It depends on the student and the material being covered. The average session is 1-2 hours long and the tutor will usually come 1-2 days per week (mostly based on attention span). Generally K-8th grade sessions will run for 1 hour and 9th grade or older will be longer, usually 1-2 hours each. Our tutor will work with you for as long or as often as can be accommodated. You can request a different tutor or cancel at any time if you are not seeing positive results.

What if it is not a good "fit" with the tutor?

All of our tutors are qualified regarding the subject material but occasionally their schedule or personality might not work for a particular student. Please let us know as soon as possible and we will try to find a replacement tutor to work with you. We guarantee your satisfaction and will make every effort to offer a professional experience.

How soon can I get started?

We can generally respond to online inquiries within 1-2 hours and phone calls during the same business day. We will match you with the best tutor available and have them call you within 24 hours to schedule an appointment.

What is your billing procedure?

We require a major credit card. There are no contracts or sign-up fees. We only bill for the time your spend with your tutor. You will receive a bi-monthly statement detailing any applicable charges to your credit card including comments from your tutor for each session. To avoid any interruption in service, customers must keep credit card information current with Stepping Stone Tutors. You may, at any time, purchase a discounted package of 5, 10, 15, or 20 hours or cancel your service with us.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes. We enforce a 24 hour cancellation policy which includes "no-shows." Please give your tutor at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule to avoid a 1 hour charge for the scheduled appointment.
